Day 18 – Rememberance, Interview, Live

What can I say? I really can’t say this day was the same as any other. Here’s why. The day started as a REMEMBERANCE to the September 11th Attacks. It has been five years since the attacks. Still, to this day, people are affected by the day that started normal and turned forever to terror. The image of the black smoke that rose against the blue sky is an image that will never fade in the mind of every American that felt that day. Let’s take a moment to remember the flights, men, women and children whose lives were lost just because they were American and let’s pray for the families that had loved ones involved.

  • American Airlines Flight 11: Struck North Tower @ 0846 hours.
  • United Airlines Flight 175: Struck South Tower @ 0902 hours.
  • American Airlines Flight 77: Struck Pentagon @ 0937 hours.
  • United Airlines Flight 93: Crashed in field just outside of Shanksville, PA @ 1003 hours.
  • The fatalities were in the thousands, with 2,973 people killed, including 246 on the four planes, 2,602 in New York City in the towers and on the ground, and 125 at the Pentagon. Among the fatalities were 343 New York City Fire Department firefighters, 23 New York City Police Department officers, and 37 Port Authority police officers. An additional 24 people remain listed as missing in the attack on the World Trade Center to this day. Information recorded from Wikipedia.com

Our prayers and concerns go out to all.

After the moments of silence, we went back into our classrooms and continued instruction. A few soldiers conducted the interviews and did pretty well. This was great stuff. I am still not exaclty sure how to conduct this interview, but, I am hoping to get this as time goes on. I am attempting to watch these groups that conduct the interview and hope that I am able to learn something. As I said earlier, this is going to take a lot of information.

At about 1430 hours, we were told that we had to go do live phone calls. We had to make an attempt in getting leads over the phone. This was hard at first, but, in the long run I was able to make twenty-three phone calls in all. This is only over a course of an hour of being on the phone. Granted I was unable to get a hold of eighty percent of the people I attempted to call, but it was a good run. I did find one that the mother wanted her son to just talk to us and wanted the Army to call back at a later time. This is understandable. There were a few phone calls that just did not want anything to do with the Army. Another understandable stand on life. What are we gonna do? Put a gun to their heads. No, of course not. Anyways, I think you got the point. Tommorrow should be fun as well. Until next time folks, Put’em in boots. This is Warrior Roberts reporting.
