These Army Interviews are actually a little easier than they look. You have to understand the flow of communication on this. Granted there are several key things you have to remember. One of them is the SOLDIER acronym. Another is the Army values and the other is APPLESMDT which is a set of pre-qualification questions. It will all make sense once you go through and find your way of making it flow. I did my first Army Interview today.
Let me tell you. I was scared as hell. Deep down I knew there was no reason on why I should be scared. I knew everybody in class. I also told my self this nice bit of information. I said to myself, “Nobody is even paying attention because they have already sat through eight hours of this.” So this made me feel a bit better. I went though it and good good ratings. I had to thank three other students in the class because one AWESOME NCO made a flow-perfect outline and showed it to me. Another student showed me the best way to flow the SOLDIER acronym through my army story. I studied with another student last night which helped a lot. I was able to understand the flow a lot better and understand what the instructor was wanting.
I feel much better now that I have done it once. It was a great feeling to actually understand what was going on. I feel somewhat relieved, but this was the day in a nutshell. Tomorrow is grand. We get to wear Class B’s. The good thing is we only have to wear them for two days. So it shouldn’t be too bad. Until next time, this is Casey Roberts reporting.
